Historic District's New Retailers

New restaurants and clothing boutiques are continuing to shape the identity of Downtown San Jose's Historic District while providing more dining and shopping options for Downtown's diverse audience.

Two new boutiques opened on South First Street, bringing their own sense of style and fashion to Downtown San Jose. On First Boutique (76 S. First Street - formerly The Record Shop) features independent fashion labels in men and women's apparel and accessories such as Modern Amusement, Paul Frank and DSL55. On the same block, Purist Boutique recently opened its doors at the former Pueblo Viejo location (66 S. First Street). Purist features urban apparel for men and women from brands like Stussy, Toki Doki and True Religion Denim.

Historic District patrons also have more dining and lounge options. For the mature crowd, A Perfect Finish (55 S. First Street) opened its doors at the corner of First and Post Streets. The upscale wine and dessert bar serves premium wines and spirits, scrumptious desserts and small plates in a living room like atmosphere. Across the street, Koji Sake Lounge (48 S. First Street) features over 25 kinds of premium sake and shochus, signature sake cocktails and small dishes in a modern deco setting.

Along with the new retailers and restaurants, CIM's The Globe residential complex between Second and Third Streets is currently forming an interest list. They will be opening an on-site leasing center in the summer with a full model unit for viewing. For more information, please visit www.theglobesanjose.com.

Three Sixty Residences Ground Breaking

Mesa Development's Three Sixty Residences located in the SoFA District at San Salvador Street between Market and South First Streets broke ground in April 2007. Downtown Office Recruitment

The San Jose Redevelopment Agency’s new Office Tenant Recruitment and Retention Program is achieving early and measurable success. One notable new tenant is Xactly, a software company, will be moving to the historic Metropole building at 35 S. Market Street (formerly occupied by McClatchy Interactive). Kevin Crawford of Ritchie Commercial brokered the deal with Xactly and their CEO Chris Cabrera. In addition to the leases already executed, there is a long list of leases in various stages of negotiation. Of particular interest to prospective tenants are parking incentives, permitting assistance, sign grants, and Enterprise Zone tax credits.

Key components of this program are still under development. The first priority being a comprehensive database of properties, property-owners, brokers, vacancies, and current tenants. In addition, a map of the Core Business District office property vacancies, and a comprehensive marketing package.

Having these tools in hand, the Agency will continue to actively participate in the recruitment and retention process, supporting brokers and property owners. Companies interested in locating Downtown, and brokers representing Downtown properties are encouraged to contact Angela Kelly at (408) 795-1861 for additional details on incentive programs and tenanting benefits.
